Workshops
Workshops for people facing barriers to work
Practical, strengths-based sessions for prison leavers, people with convictions and young adults who have fallen behind, delivered in custody and in the community. I run them through Anabranch Plus. Every workshop comes with referral and support into jobs, training and education.
How the sessions are run
Strengths first: we find skills in experience and do not go over the past.
Safe: the room is free from judgement, and sharing is always voluntary.
Future focused: every session ends with something people can use in a CV, an application or an interview.
Safeguarding: led by a designated safeguarding lead.
Personal and professional growth
A three-phase programme that moves from confidence, to how you present yourself, to the next step.
Phase 1
Phase 1: Rewriting the Narrative
Who it is for
Serving prisoners, prison leavers and people with convictions.
Length
2.5 hours
Aim
To recognise the skills built through adversity and turn them into employability strengths, without selling the offence.
People leave with
At least three transferable skills, one strength they can say aloud, and language for interviews, CVs and applications.
Phase 2
Phase 2: Positioning for Opportunity
Who it is for
People ready to present themselves to employers, colleges and networks.
Length
2.5 hours
Aim
To turn experience and personal journey into a form that employers and educators understand and value.
People leave with
A clearer way to describe their strengths, practical tools for language and framing, and readiness for CV writing and interviews.
Phase 3
Phase 3: Pathways into Work, Training and Study
Who it is for
People ready to take a next step.
Aim
To connect people to real routes, with referrals into logistics roles, digital and AI jobs and training, further and higher education, and self-employment.
People leave with
A chosen route, a named next step and a referral to go with it.
AI for employability and self-advocacy
Three short sessions that make AI a tool for people who have been left behind by it.
AI and Generative AI
Who it is for
Anyone who wants to feel more confident with AI, with no experience needed.
Aim
A plain-English introduction to what AI is, where it shows up in everyday life, and how to use it wisely.
People leave with
The ability to spot AI in everyday tools, an understanding of the main risks, which are misinformation, scams, bias and made-up answers, and practical ways to tell real images and writing from AI.
AI-Powered CV Builder
Who it is for
People who want a CV and are unsure what to write or whether they have enough experience.
Aim
To turn skills and experience, paid or unpaid, into a professional CV, with AI as an assistant.
People leave with
A draft CV to build on, a way of asking AI for help, and the habit of checking that the result sounds like them.
AI Cover Letter Design
Who it is for
People applying for jobs who find cover letters hard.
Aim
To tailor a cover letter to a job advert and turn life experience into workplace strengths.
People leave with
A draft cover letter ready to adapt for real applications, and a clearer way to talk about their strengths.
Single sessions
Criminal Background Disclosure
Who it is for
People with convictions who are applying for jobs, courses, housing or volunteering.
Aim
To understand what disclosure means and when it applies, prepare what to say in their own words, and know their rights.
This is information and support, not legal advice.
People leave with
Clarity about the process, a plan for what to say, and the confidence to have the conversation with dignity.
Overcoming Self-Doubt and Discovering Your Inner Strengths
Who it is for
Prison leavers and anyone who has been told they are not capable.
Aim
To understand where self-doubt comes from, see past setbacks as evidence of real skills, and name their strengths.
People leave with
A written strengths statement they can use in interviews and applications, and the experience of having their strengths recognised by someone else.
For schools and education settings
Beyond the Labels
A workshop for school staff on special educational needs and disabilities, adversity and behaviour. In January 2026 all eight people who filled in the feedback form said they would recommend it to colleagues.
